Sarah’s four-point plan for Croydon’s commuters
I have a plan to save commuters time and money, and make our transport safe for all. Croydon commuters deserve better. As your MP, I will be fighting for:
1. Making Croydon Zone 4
Rezoning Croydon’s stations would save hundreds of pounds for commuters and boost Croydon’s economy. Businesses, the council, Westfield, and even the local Tories support this proposal. You can find out more and sign my petition here.
2. New laws to make our trams safe
Three years after the tram crash, the victims’ families are still waiting for justice. With the families, I have been campaigning for new tram safety laws, after no individuals or organisations were charged over the crash. Find out more and sign our petition here.
3. Re-nationalising our railways
Last year, Croydon’s commuters went through hell at the hands of Southern Rail. Government contracts with rail companies favour profit, not passengers. Labour would renationalise the railways to improve our services and make them better value for money.
4. Extra tracks
More people travel through East Croydon than Paddington, Euston and Kings Cross combined. The train line is under strain and congestion causes frequent delays. I am campaigning for extra tracks to be built and East Croydon Station to be redeveloped.
