UPDATE: Alleged Chinese Police Station in Croydon

I recently met with Security Minister Tom Tugendhat to discuss the alleged Chinese Police Station in Croydon. Yesterday Mr Tugendhat confirmed that China has closed its reported ‘police service stations’ in Britain, and that an investigation did not reveal any illegal activity by the Chinese state at those sites.
He said that ‘police and public scrutiny have had a suppressive impact on any administrative functions these sites may have had’, and confirmed that the Foreign Office have reminded the Chinese embassy that any police service stations in the UK are unacceptable.
Labour has repeatedly raised concerns about the hostile threats posed to Hong Kongers, Uyghurs, and Chinese dissidents here in the UK, and in Government Labour will conduct a full audit of our relationship with China to ensure there is a coherent cross-Government effort to deal with China, both here and abroad.
